Lichess Chess Tournament – 1 Hour – Ages 18 and Under

Ages Under 18

Love Chess – want to play against new people?

Join our online tournaments on Lichess.org!

Lichess is a free, online open source chess server that allows people to play against friends or against a computer. We will be holding a 1 hour chess tournament on this server for anyone aged 18 or under.  This online tournament will operate with chat turned off.

What you need to know:

  • Preregister with lichess.org
  • Log into the Festival Noticeboard
  • Link and password will be on the relevant day pages – Saturday and Sunday – and the top of the noticeboard page.
  • You must be in the tournament waiting area on lichess.org by 4.25pm
  • At 4.30pm the Lichess computer will assign you to a chess match.

All matches will be limited to 5 minutes. The computer will automatically reassign you to a new match if your match finishes faster than this, or it will happen once 5 minutes have passed. You will be reassigned matches throughout the 1 hour period.

As you win more matches you will be assigned other people who also have won matches, thus matching you to people at your chess level.  The person who wins most matches during this hour will head the leader board at the end of the tournament.

This event will be running on the lichess.org server and matches managed automatically. It does not have a presenter. Chat will be turned off and therefore contact between chess players will not be possible during the tournament
