Many studies have shown that there are some essential skills we need to be best set for success in life.
As parents, our responsibility lies in supporting our children, helping them to build these skills and preparing them as best we can to stand on their own two feet.
In this session, Potential Plus UK and Skills Builder will present to you a number of those skills and how you can support your child’s development of them.
Hannah Senior (Skills Builder) and Pantéa Shafie (Potential Plus UK)
Hannah is passionate about providing all young people with equal opportunities and believes that developing essential skills is the most effective way of achieving that aim.
Whilst teaching in a highly disadvantaged area on the Teach First Leadership Development programme, she conducted Oxbridge interviews with Year 13 students. There she observed a clear gap in students’ ability to present ideas clearly, to solve problems creatively and to apply critical thinking. This motivated Hannah to bring greater equality of opportunity for young people.
She now works in the Organisations team at Skills Builder Partnership, working with organisations in the Careers & Employability and Parents & Community sectors to support them to develop their essential skills provision to ensure the greatest impact for the young people they work with.
Pantéa is Potential Plus UK’s Online Community Coordinator, organising and developing our vPlus online events and festival. Over the past 20 years, Pantéa has lived in France, Germany, The Netherlands, China, Romania, Dubai, and, of course, the UK; working in corporate International Events Management.
A problem solver at heart, Pantéa now also uses her skills and knowledge to support individuals through coaching and organisations through consultancy. Multicultural, creative, and polyvalent, Pantéa has a dual degree in Mathematics and French Civilisation & Culture as well as an MBA in International Business Strategy. She is passionate, with a fun sense of work and has a minor addiction to TED Talks!
