A group workshop for 11-14s offering an introduction to critical and creative thinking. In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how and when you need to apply critical thinking skills, from working out what you think about important, controversial issues, what is and isn’t fake news and whether to sign an internet petition, to deciding which points should be included an essay or are mostly likely to help you win an argument. You’ll also learn some practical techniques to enable you to develop and practise your critical thinking skills in everyday life, see things from different perspectives and develop a creative approach to problem-solving.
Alex Elliott and Tom Ziessen
Alex Elliott and Tom Ziessen set up Oxford Catalyst Courses in 2019 to teach young people how to think critically and creatively. Their courses and workshops are designed to help students learn to analyse important issues, think for themselves, generate solutions and communicate ideas persuasively – the skills they believe will be most useful to 21st-century young people at school, university and in the wider world.
